Modeling Photoionized Turbulent Material in the Circumgalactic Medium III: Effects of Co-rotation and Magnetic Fields

In a new paper (Buie II et al. 2022, ApJ, in press), we extend our previous CGM models to include angular momentum and MHD

Modeling Photoionized Turbulent Material in the Circumgalactic Medium III: Effects of Co-rotation and Magnetic Fields

This short video gives a quick overview of a few results from our most recent paper [1] on photoionized turbulent gas in the circumgalactic medium (CGM). The paper is the third in a series on simulations of photoionized turbulence. [2] [3] We find rotation in the halo promotes additional cooling, as it encourages mixing between hot and cool material, while the magnetic field assists with angular momentum transfer throughout the cool gas.
