A brief overview of the results of Moser et al. 2022.
This video summarizes the results of Moser et al. 2022 [1]. The cycle of baryons through the circumgalactic medium (CGM) is important to understand in the context of galaxy formation and evolution. In this paper, we forecast constraints on feedback parameters within the CAMELS (Cosmology and Astrophysics MachinE Learning Simulations) suite with current and future Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) observations. We forward-model thermodynamic profiles from the simulations into SZ profiles, and perform a Fisher analysis to estimate the levels of constraint we are able to achieve for each feedback parameter using forecasted SZ measurement sensitivities. We find that for the given observed sample and experiment for which we forecast, we are able to constrain all of the feedback parameters being varied in the CAMELS suite (some within the 10% level), indicating that future observations will be able to further restrict the parameter space for these sub-grid models.
