Telltale signs of metal recycling in the CGM of a z~0.77 galaxy
Summary of paper Tejos et al. 2021 (4 min)

This video summarizes the recent paper by Tejos et al. 2021 on the kinematics of an isolated galaxy’s atmosphere at z~0.77 [1]. We observe the circumgalactic medium (CGM) in absorption using IFU data of background gravitational arcs. We find evidence of an extended co-rotating disc plus a galactic outflow on scales of several tens of kpc, based on the analysis of 42 independent spatial spaxels of a single galaxy halo.
